Hopetoun House Wedding Trailer – Claire & Euan

Here is the second Trailer of this weeks series, showcasing something new from Design Scotland Video.

I’ll not talk about it just now but do watch this space for some very very cool news soon!

The film trailer is from Claire & Euan’s Wedding last weekend, at the awesome Hopetoun House!  Once again we had the pleasure of working with Niels & Alie from BlueSky Photography (click here to see their photos from this wedding!), and once again we shot far too much footage  ;)      All good though – always better too much than not enough!

The Trailer is edited in a very dramatic style intentionally, but do bear in mind the shots were all taken when working alongside Niels and Alie and we still didn’t need to ‘pose’ Claire & Euan ourselves, so rest assured that we maintained a relaxed approach to the filming.

Claire & Euan, thanks for letting us get involved and we’ll have a cracking film ready for you in a few weeks time.

So, sit back and enjoy the show…..

Steve

PS: don’t forget, we love to hear your thoughts so please do let us know what you think in the comments box below.
PPS:  Niels & Alie, thanks for setting up that awesome petals shot – inspired!   Thanks also to Gemma from Planet Flowers for the BIIIG bucket of petals and the utterly gorgeous displays!!

Depending on your internet connection speed, the HD video may stop and start.
To solve this, press ‘pause’ and wait while the grey bar builds up, press ‘play’ again and then enjoy!
If the video does not appear, please just refresh your browser.

Wedding Trailer – The Hub – Lynn & Gavin

Lynn & Gavin’s Wedding at The Hub in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile was just fantastic.  They were just so chilled about the day and enjoyed every last minute. Although it was a cold winter’s day, we had blue skies and the day just flew by, it was so much fun!  Photos by the lovely and very talented Niels & Alie at Blue Sky Photography

I grabbed Lynn & Gavin for a quick informal chat in front of camera during the morning preparations, and as those 5min Q&A’s gave me some lovely comments, I thought it best to share a snippet with you here.

Lynn & Gavin, thanks so much for letting us take part in your day, and I look forward to wowing you with the finished Wedding Film in the coming weeks, but for now just enjoy this little teaser to whet your appetite.

Cheers

Valentines Day pt2 – Hopetoun House Wedding

A fantastic venue for Richard & Laura’s wedding… The wonderful Hopetoun House!

A truly emotion day, and a couple very much in love, so I thought this film was a perfect choice for a video to share with you on Valentines Day.

Richard & Laura, you have been a superb couple and very patient in waiting for your film.  We wish you all the very best and hope you like this little snippet.

Valentines Day pt 1

OK I’m a bit of a soppy sod, I’ll admit it!

I do like the opportunity to show Yvonne how much I love her, but this year she has blown me away with the thought that she’s shown and I know it’s a rather public place to say it but heck I really do love her.

From the wonderful Iggys Cupcakes, to the sublime bottle of Raspberry Vodka (very yum by the way!), the lovely cards and exquisitely prepared pancakes for brekky…. it’s truly brilliant to stop and take stock sometimes about how wonderful it is to be in a happy marriage, with the one you love.

Anyway I’ll stop before it gets far too soppy, and just share a couple of pix from today.

Happy Valentines day all!

Claire & Nick’s Highlights – Wedding Video Edinburgh

I’m way overdue with this film, so firstly thanks go to Claire and Nick for being so patient, I know you guys agree it was worth the wait, but it was a little later than I had anticipated!

The film below is the Highlights sequence that closes the main edit from Claire & Nick’s fab wedding at St Johns Church in Edinburgh, followed by the reception at Nick’s family home in Easter Belmont.

Once again I decided to use the speeches and vows in with the highlights to give it a more dramatic feel and work alongside the instrumental backing track. A nice blend of fun and emotion, and I do hope it gives a feel as to what the wedding day was like, something I try to do with all our films.

No two weddings are the same, so there is always a unique story to tell.

As always, do let us know what you think in the comments box below.

Still got a mountain of things to edit but getting there, oh and I’ll have a rather cool trailer coming in the week or two, so do watch out for that one.

Take care

Steve

PS: I thought I’d share with you Claire & Nick’s thoughts after watching the final wedding film: “…the words – utterly breath taking, slick, worth the wait, classy, thoughtful, all spring immediately to mind! Nick and I were away in Glasgow at the weekend but the DVD arrived – we popped it into the lap top on the plane and were blubbing like babies! Amazing memories – you truly captured us and the day perfectly. The editing and music choice is totally on point – brilliant and we will definitely treasure this in years to come.”  Cool:)

Chuck Deleacaes - Steve,
Another wonderful video and what a lovely couple. Many blessings bestowed upon them and their future as husband and wife.

Fiona Deaves - Got to get a hankie now! Magic Steve !!!! x

Vodka. Yum. Thanks!

It’s always cool to receive thank you cards and emails from our happy couples and every now and then a little gift.

So thank you to the wonderful Sarah & Ian for sending Yvonne, Stuart and I a lovely little bottle of Raspberry Vodka each and a lovely heartfelt handwritten note.

I’m worrying that my blog seems to have a theme of Alcohol related gifts (vodka, beer and wine) but it’s lovely to know how much the DVD has meant to Sarah and Ian.

I’m still in the midst of a busy editing time with lots of pre- and post-christmas films to complete so it’s so rewarding to hear from couples how much they adore their wedding film.

We work very hard to make sure each film is as personal and individual as the couple themselves and of course all this attention to detail and bespoke editing does take time, so it’s doubly rewarding that after a 12 week wait our films bring back all those fabulous memories and makes the excitement and emotion so real, all over again.

I think I’ll have to add a future blog post and take some of the amazing comments and testimonials we’ve had over the past year and share them.  It’ll probably look a bit cheesy with all those incredible superlatives, but hey those are the kinds of comments and feedback we get week after week!

We are so lucky to be a part of our couples special day, and it’s a joy and a delight to be able to help create something that will stay with them forever, and indeed be passed on to future generations of family to enjoy.  Amazing.

It’s also cool just how many times we bump into couples over the years.  We get so many recommendations from family and friends of clients, that quite often we see couples as guests at other weddings.  In fact at the wedding in Achnagairn yesterday there were no fewer than 4 previous couples of ours, and another 2 from future weddings in 2010 and 2011 !  That’s from just 140 guests!

Did I mention how cool our job is?!:)

Well it’s time to go and chill just now after a very hectic couple of days filming.

Too early for that Raspberry Vodka though….

Cheers

Steve

Happy New Year

newyear (1 of 1)

Happy New Year everyone!

I’ll skip the usual run through of the important events of 2009 and skip straight to the run through of the past 2 weeks off!

Well it’s been a blur of relaxation, mulled wine, chocolates, TV, sledging, pinot noir, snowball fights, arguing over which film to watch, stuffing and turkey, champagne, and shovelling snow away from the driveway.  Pretty fabulous really (not even opening up Final Cut Pro to edit!)

I do have some photos somewhere, if I can find the memory card….

So onto 2010 then.

Lots of new things planned, some new edits, new filming, new gear and renewed vigour to get stuck into my handful of winter weddings.

New Years Resolution? I think as well as the usual dietary ones, it’s to utilise time a little better and from that, get the work/life balance more in favour of ‘life’.  2009 was far too mental!

So if you are planning your wedding for 2010/2011/2012 then enjoy it, relax but most of all, BOOK EARLY!

Happy New year!  All the very best!

Steve

Thank You! See you in 2010!

Well that’s us finished the last edit for this year, we’ve still got a few left to do in January but should be all caught up early February, ready to get the exciting new plans into action for the 2010 wedding season.

So all that remains is to say a huge thank you to all of our couples, for being so brilliant and patient with us, and for all the thank you emails and cards – it gives us a huge buzz when we hear your thoughts on your wedding films.  It’s also a great relief to hear those words ‘it was so worth the wait”:)

So have a fabulous Christmas everyone, and all the very best for 2010 – it’s going to be a fabulous year!

I’ll leave you with a few photos I snapped over the past couple of days, out having some fun with Callum.

All the very best!

See you next year!

Steve

Merry Christmas!

Dundas Castle Highlights – Nicola & Garreth

Yet another Dundas Castle highlights – I did have 3 weddings there that month – but a beauty of a film too!

Nicola & Garreth had a stunning day starting off at St Giles Cathedral followed by their reception at Dundas.

Had the pleasure of working with Alan & Jackie again at Rankine Photography – always good fun:)

I’ll let the film do the talking….need to get back to some editing….Christmas is looming….

Enjoy

Yeay, Callum’s home!

This week has felt really odd!  Callum (our 11yr old star of a son) has been away on a School trip in London all week!

He’s been telling us all about it this evening and seems to have a had a great time (they aren’t allowed to phone home or anything so it’s been a whirlwind couple of hours hearing all that went on).

He’s just so sweet as he bought me a gift…Actually he had to ask his teacher to buy it….and then asked her to carry it on the train all the way from London!

Here’s a wee before and after of the gift….

combinedbeers

Nice one huh!  he bought his Dad a nice bottle of beer from the Imperial War Museum!  What must his teachers now think of me?  Mum got a cool Christmas tree decoration from the Globe Theatre…. I still prefer my (really rather tasty) bottle of good old English beer (which again, I really enjoyed).

So thank you Callum:)

Oh and he forgot to post his Postcards and brought them home to post (I reckon he sold his stamps to a friend;)) but I just can’t get over the line he wrote where he said “…just come back from the Science Museum, it was amazing…*”  then over a bit he qualified his asterisk by writing “* it would be much better with you”

20091204-IMG_9461

So sweet.

Shame he’ll be shouting at us and slamming doors in a couple of years!

Apologies for the personal post.  It’s been a long week without Callum, and we’re so pleased to have him home:)

Have a great weekend all!

Steve

Callum, Rugby and Saturdays off

The very big positive side of the winter months being quieter for actually filming weddings, is that I do get some Saturdays off.

The best part of those days is getting to watch Callum play rugby for Watson’s.  He’s currently picked as a Hooker (as he’s a demon at driving through people much bigger than him and just will not let go of the ball when nabbed;) .  Personally I’m thinking Flanker or outside Centre (which will please Yvonne as she hates the idea of him becoming a big cauliflower ear forward and spoiling his good looks).  Time will tell;)

So I just thought I’d share a few of photos from the past couple of matches.  A couple of nice breakaway tries from loose ball at the base of the scrum, a nice crash ball restart, and getting nabbed by children that surely are no way only 11yrs old;)

So, I’m enjoying my Saturday mornings off, but boy is it cold!  Brrr, and I’m the one with the coat, hat and scarf on!  Ahh, brings back the days of me running around with a rugby ball in the snow…. way back in the day;)

Cheers

Steve

Katie & Colin’s Highlights – Glenbervie House Hotel Wedding

Here’s the highlights sequence from Katie & Colin’s Wedding at Glenbervie House Hotel.

Katie and Colin were really up for some fun, and had a blast with their photo shoot with the brilliant Gordon McGowan

A really emotional day and Katie held it together well. The day was rounded off with a rather cool surprise…. the Awesome Red Hot Chilli Pipers…not even Colin knew about it!

Thanks for being so much fun guys, it’s easy to see your day was both a very emotional one, yet also filled with so much fun and laughter.

Cheers

Dundas Castle Wedding – Wedding Video DVD Highlights Sequence

Busy Busy Busy on the edit front.  Working through the Munro of edits and doing well, so thought I’d show you a highlights from a little earlier in the year with a Wedding at Dundas Castle and the film of Grant & Christi.

Grant & Christi had a fabulous wedding, a lovely intimate family affair and as their humanist ceremony vows were so special I decided to make use of them in the highlights sequence.  It was also lovely to work alongside Sarah & Jenny at Sarah Elizabeth Photography again (I’ve had the pleasure of filming both Sarah & Jenny’s Weddings, so always really good fun to work with them!).

So here, without further ado, the highlights of Grant & Christi.

Do let me know your thoughts!  All comments are very welcome, love to hear what you think!

Sarah & Jenny - Great to work with you both as always. Brilliant set of highlights but wouldn’t expect anything less! Look forward to working with you again soon.

Carol - That was a lovely video, the music, the voice over, the wonderful vows, the creative fliming, brilliant, don’t know the couple but had a lump in my throat.

libby - I’ve just watched lots of your videos and I am now in floods of tears, you definetely know how to capture the moment, they are fab!

VOWS Awards 2009 – photographic evidence gulp!

OK a couple of days late (was at a training course yesterday) but here are a couple of photos from the VOWS Awards 2009.

We had a great night, really good fun and superb company.  Below are some photos of Yvonne, Stuart and myself, along with some photos of Niels & Alie from Blue Sky Photography.  If there are any gaps then it’s because they have been censored by Niels, who as the photos show had a good time!  Niels and Alie were great fun and it was also nice to see Jay & Christina from Elemental:)

Also, Stuart (who for the record once and for all, is not my son! nor does he wear a waistcoat at every function!) came along and had a good time too.   He did well to consume more red wine than anyone (then again he is a youngster), yet not exhibit any of the side effects (slurring, falling over, dancing like your dad etc).

Well, subject to approval by those featured in the photos, here goes…. normal disclaimers apply (ie point and shoot camera, moderate alcohol use, we only get out twice a year etc etc)

Cheers!!

Highlights – Blair Estate – Wedding Video

Wow……October’s over, Halloween’s done, Bonfire Night all fizzzled out…. guess it’s time for a new video?!

I’m in a period of very intense editing right now – long long hours at the edit suite, and working 7 days a week trying to bring down the backlog and wait time.

I know my clients may have to wait a little longer than some, but I hope you will agree the final films are worth those few more weeks of patience:)

So, here is an ‘alternative’ highlights sequence from this weeks edit.  The  song used is a personal choice rather than the couples chosen music as I just felt this one would work – you be the judge of that I guess…

So here we have Lindsay & Mark’s Wedding at the wonderful Blair Estate.

Enjoy
