Lesley & Joseph – Murthly Castle Wedding Highlights

Apparently today (3rd Monday in January) is “Blue Monday” a low point of the post-Christmas period.

So I thought I’d do my bit and spread some sunny cheer with a lovely Highlights Film from Lesley & Joseph’s Wedding at Murthly Castle.

Since being a child when her grandfather used to work on the Estate, Lesley has always wanted to be married at Murthly Castle,  so it really is a dream come true, and truly special day.  Joseph’s Australian family brought with them some stunning weather, and a massive amount of laughter to boot!

Their Scottish wedding was the perfect blend of emotion, excitement, anticipation and downright fun!

So, on this ‘blue’ day (allegedly… I still believe that life is what you make it) hopefully it’ll raise a smile.

Have a good one!

Becky & Nikhil’s Wedding at Pollokshields Burgh Hall

The film below is from Becky & Nikhil’s Wedding at the lovely Pollokshields Burgh Hall, a day full of fun, excitement, laughter and ‘green’ (sorry Becky;)teehee)

Becky & Nik’s Wedding was planned to perfection (by Becky!) and all those little touches and details made it such a special day for them. I think the one thing that came out of it though was just the sheer excitement of the day.  Becky & Nik are so much in love, and this day meant everything to them.  Getting all their close family and friends together to celebrate, and making sure they had fun, was a big thing and that’s certainly how it turned out.

Robbie and I had a total hoot filming that day, and I must make a special thank you for including us in the just stunning Indian Feast that was the Wedding Breakfast.  Not sure I’ve ever tasted Indian food that good before… plus I’m not sure how we managed to pick up our totally stuffed ‘selves off the chair to film the evening celebrations!

I knew just how important the Wedding Film was to these guys so I’m so chuffed they are delighted with it, and I just had to share their Highlights Film with you all.

So, a huge thanks to you Becky & Nik… for being so patient with the long wait for the film, for being such an awesome couple to work with on the day, and for that taste tingling feast:D

I’m so chuffed you loved the films, and look forward to reading all about your future together! (Oh I forgot to mention Becky is becoming a prolific wedding blogger, so you can read more about their journey here at The OliveDragonfly )

Take good care of each other guys!

Bex - Oh, and I just got this email from Mum!

“Oh Wow, fantasmagorical!!! Been outside all day stacking furniture so only just got to see the video. Really really good, and that was only 3 minutes! How long is the DVD?”

Sent her the link today since she doesn’t have her copy of the DVD yet as she’s in Saudi and we’re waiting for someone who can take it out as it might get seized if posted – bare shoulders and all!!!

Happy New Year 2012

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year break.

We had a really chilled and fun time, so chilled that I didn’t take any video footage, nor any (decent) photos! Quite an achievement for me!

It was great to take some time off and spend it with Yvonne and Callum – really needed it after a pretty frantic few months, and it felt like I’d hardy seen them in the weeks before Christmas!

So after an awesome break I’m feeling totally revitalised, and champing at the bit to work through the backlog of editing from the remaining 2011 weddings:)

Got some really great films to share with you over the coming months! (even if I do say so myself)

So, here’s to a fabulous 2012 for us all.

Take care and have a good one!

All the best.

Have a very merry cherry Christmas!

Wow, where has the past month gone!  Well, it’s meant me being pretty much chained to my edit suite working some mad hours to get through the backlog of weddings for 2011.

I’ve still got lots left to do of course as I complete my editing for the 2011 weddings, and I have some rather amazing clips to share form the past few weeks, so do watch out for the first couple of blog posts of 2012,  something pretty darned lovely!!

For today though I just had to get one more blog post in before Christmas so thought it might be a good idea to post something fun and upbeat – from the Wedding of Jean-Charles and Scarlett at Cameron House.

Their wedding was all about having fun, just a group of close friends and family celebrating their marriage, from the hilarious ceremony (even without the English translation) to the brilliant first dance, Jean-Charles & Scarlett had a ball.

Oh and hugest thanks to Yvonne for translating for me, would’ve been rather tricky without her help!!

I’m off now to recharge the batteries over the Christmas period, to spend some time with my wonderful wife Yvonne, and my charming young lad Callum! (I’m dead excited for Santa’s visit!)

I hope you all enjoy your Christmas break, take good care of the ones you love and HAVE A BLAST!

Qian and Qing’s Dundas Castle Dream – Wedding Film

Qian and Qing’s Wedding was just beautiful. The thought and attention to detail that had gone into the planning was immense and Qian’s vision of her perfect wedding day in Scotland most definitely came true!

It was a chilly day but the sun came out on occasions and the wedding party had a great time with archery, pipers and dancers, trying to play the bagpipes, and just taking in the beauty of Dundas Castle estate. Speaking of beauty….the flowers? Oh my word…. Crafted by the amazing Planet Flowers team, they were a highlight of this lovely intimate wedding.

It was also another opportunity to have some fun with Jay & Christina of Elemental Weddings, a pleasure…every single time:)

Finally, thanks go to Yvonne from Scottish Wedding Planners for putting the whole day together, Qian, Qing and their guests looked like they had a total blast and that couldn’t have happend without your careful planning! Qian really relied on you that day!

So, the film….

Qing’s insistance to also do his speech in English was just lovely, he was so eloquent and it begged to be used…… Some great fun with a great crowd of people. Warm, friendly and welcoming… and utterly determined to enjoy every minute of their trip! They certainly did!

Enjoy.

15 years today! Happy Anniversary Yvonne!

Happy Anniversary to us!

This is where it all began…. well actually it was a good few years before that day, but this picture shows the view we had when I ‘popped the question’ to Yvonne and that day led to the most amazing 17 years in Edinburgh together!

I know it’s unoriginal to share a line I’ve heard many times at weddings, but it really rings true to me…

15 years ago today, I married my best friend!

Today? Well she’s still my best friend. Caring, loving, beautiful, smart, funny… I could go on (and will privately).

So, here’s to ‘US’ Mrs T.  Here’s to another fun filled 15 years (and far beyond) of happy times!

Cheers! Salute!

Claire & Neil – Hopetoun House Wedding Film Highlights

To Claire… to Claire… to Claire…

I loved those words in the film as it’s a perfect build up to the wonderful speech by Neil about his new wife!

Neil loves Claire.  A lot. (It’s mutual too btw!) It really shows through in the film too, and after working with these guys on their wedding day the edit just seemed to fit together in my mind and I knew how I wanted to put it all together, and exactly what song to use (even though it wasn’t actually one of their choices!).

So I’ll forgo the long descriptions here and just let the film do the talking!

A great day at the stunning, stunning Hopetoun House and always a pleasure to work alongside the very talented Jay & Christina from Elemental Weddings – ALWAYS good fun!

Thanks again Claire and Neil, you were just fabulous to work with!  I’d like to raise a toast to you….with a cheeky little ‘Rusty Nail’ (gotta love hipflasks;)

Enjoy!

Gleneagles Wedding Film Trailer – Ya-lin and Matt

Well what can I say? A spectacular day!

It’s always a pleasure to film at Gleneagles, and this wedding was no different. We had a brilliant day working alongside the ever lovely Alan & Jackie Rankine of Rankine Photography and the weather even played ball after a morning of torrential rain! (Phew!)

Ya-lin was super excited, although I think the boys were initially a little hesitant about being filmed, and I think that stemmed from the thought that they were going to have to act and pose for us.  However as the day went on they definitely felt more comfortable once they realised that we’re looking for the ‘real’, rather than setting up posed scenarios. Relaxed and natural is always what we’re looking for.

The stunning Gleneagles location, Red Hot Chili Pipers, Three Waiters, Photobooth, Fireworks, awesome music all day (Linkin Park during the register signing oh yeah!), a fabulous rockin’ disco, and a couple with a huge sense of fun! (just wait to see their first dance…er…all 35seconds of it;)

Ya-lin & Matt, thanks for trusting us with your big day, we had a great time and I honestly can’t wait to get stuck into the full edit….

Enjoy!

Ya-lin - Thank you so much for the amazing trailer. It’s so wonderful that we can share this with our family and friends and we can’t wait to see the final video. It captured all the moments of our day so perfectly. You really are the best!

And I definitely agree, the men were a little hesitant about the idea but they soon forgot you were there with your camera. Matt loves the trailer and everything about Cherry Tree Films, and he is now boasting it was his original idea! I’ll let him take the credit this time…..

Thanks again for everything, Ya-lin x

Balmoral Hotel Wedding Trailer – Amy and Roger – Edinburgh Wedding Film

Amy & Roger live in Dubai, but Edinburgh is home, so it was important that their film reminds them of this wonderful city as they sit back in the searing heat and watch back this snapshot of their day. I think even in this short trailer there’s a real sense of an ‘Edinburgh Wedding’.

They were married at Colinton Parish Church and a great part of that was with the minister reading out Amy & Roger’s thoughts on each other. These words were a great hook for me to use in the edit (even if i have saved some of the best lines for the full film!).

As ever, the trailer is just a brief snapshot of the day, but I do hope you can get the feeling of having lots of fun, including a great photoshoot with the fab Jay & Christina of Elemental Weddings and some simply brilliant dancing to ‘Acoustic David’:)

Also check out the simply amazing floristry skills of Gemma and the team at Planet Flowers!!

However it’s not just all about one day, it’s about looking forward to the future and as Roger put it in his speech, “the best is yet to be”

So here goes, 2 minutes of great shots set to their absolutely favourite piece of music…. perfect!

Enjoy.

Haley & Josh’s Wedding Film – Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland

I had the pleasure of returning to Gleneagles again last month for the wedding of Hayley & Josh from Washington D.C in the US.  Their closest family and friends made the trip over to Scotland for this truly special day in all of their lives.

This day meant so much to Hayley & Josh.  Their love for each other was clear, and they both know they are meant to be together.  They also know how to have fun…lots of fun!  Their story is one I’m so much looking forward to telling in the main edit, but here is a short highlights just to whet your appetite.

Enjoy.

Family Pix – Nairn Beach July 2011

While we were up north for the lovely wedding of Gina & Suresh at Dunphail we stayed in Nairn for a couple of days and had a fab time together just ‘hanging out’. After lunch in Elgin we had a wander along the beach and Nairn and so out came the camera for some posing (Callum seems to have a love/hate relationship with posing!).

Juts a few snaps of the fun, and given the grey weather here in Edinburgh today, a reminder that we can have beautiful weather in Scotland…you just need to embrace it when it ‘s here!

Cheers

Cameron House Wedding Trailer – Scarlett et Jean-Charles

Scarlett et Jean-Charles… félicitations!

Their Wedding was SO much fun to film, I loved the energy, the real sense of fun and the party atmosphere.  The whole day was a giggle and an absolute pleasure to be part of.

It’s so great to be able to tailor a film to really show something of the couple involved, and I think this trailer shows their personalities perfectly, so will leave it to the film to show you.

Steve

PS: the ‘Japonnais’ accent, and the “eeh-ehh’s” in place of “I Do” – completely hilarious!

PPS: this was tough to edit in parts as the whole day was in French, so a huge thanks to Yvonne for translating for me, couldn’t have done it without you! x

Suresh and Gina’s Trailer – Moray

Nothing for ages and then two trailer posts in two days… (obviously, the second one is coming tomorrow)

It’s been a changeable July, and weather has played its part in many of the weddings this month. However, I know that all the weather does is add a different element to the wedding film.  It certainly never ‘spoils’ a wedding, in fact it makes for some fabulous opportunities visually.  More on that in the final edit to come.

Just to prove a point, here’s a trailer from a couple of weeks back, on what must have been THE wettest day of the year up in Moray.

Suresh & Gina’s Wedding took place in the family church on the family estate at Dunphail, and it was a wonderfully colourful day with lots of Sri Lankan touches (including the monsoon!).  I also got some great footage of a pair of Red Squirrels which was a pretty special bonus! Everyone had a simply great celebration and partyed long into the night…!

So as you’ll see, don’t stress about the weather.  Just concentrate on having a fabulous time!
