Gleneagles Wedding – Nina & Russell’s Wedding Trailer

Nina & Russell’s wedding at the marvellous Gleneagles Hotel was just stunning. Absolutely everything about the day was perfect.

The church had been dressed beautifully, Gleneagles Ballroom looked awesome, and everything went perfectly. We were even treated to a full sit down dinner which was greatly appreciated after a very early start – thank you Mr El-Imad!

We also enjoyed the company of the wonderful Alan & Jackie of Rankine Photography, and look forward to seeing their superb photographs:-)

The film below is our  ’Wedding Trailer’ option. A unique and self contained wedding film edited within 7-10 days of the wedding.  It gives both a real flavour of the wedding itself and also hopefully leaves you wanting to see more.  If you like this film, then just wait for the main edit coming soon, it’s going to be immense!

So without further ado, I present to you ‘Mr & Mrs Stewart’

Lovely wedding the other week at the House For An Art Lover for Douglas & Hayley’s Wedding.  A scorching hot day and it was great to work with Cara & Nye from Lillian&Leonard Photography.

Hayley & Douglas had a lovely Humanist Wedding Ceremony and wrote the most fabulous vows for each other, so just had to pop together a Trailer for their main feature coming soon.

Enjoy.

Andrew Brown - Loved it.

I wish that more brides and grooms would realise that writing their own vows is one of the best things you could do on your wedding day.
I would happily ditch every other personal touch throughout the day for some amazing heartfelt vows.

Friday Rewind Film

Got some superb wedding films to post very soon, but for now let’s go back a couple of years…

Every once in a while I’m taken back to our amazing trips to New Zealand, and how close we came to emigrating back in 2007-2008.

We were chatting last night and reminiscing about our awesome months out there, a truly brilliant country.

Hey, if anyone out there has a wedding in NZ (October 2010 to April 2011) and want us to film, we’d create an amazing wedding film for you for free…. just cover our travel costs;)

Anyway, just wanted to ‘rewind’ with one of my favourite little films, knocked together from our 2007 trip (usual disclaimers about using a little travel handicam etc etc).

Yvonne (Mrs DSV) had watched Callum and I do all the adrenaline stuff (bungee, zorb, luge etc) and then just a few days before going home, decided she wanted to outdo us. So, up she went to the top of the Auckland SkyTower, and promptly jumped off (in an organised event btw!).

Brilliant.

So, for my Friday Rewind today…. Yvonne and the SkyTower jump. Enjoy.

Have a fab weekend!

Mrs T - PLEASE can we go back?????? Promise I’ll jump again if we do, but I’ll have to race Callum for it or he’ll beat me to it!

My boy is growing up

This week is pretty important for Callum.

It’s the week where all the P7’s first start to transition from Primary to ‘Big School’ and moving into S1.  He’s had an exciting week and tomorrow gets to spend the whole day in the Senior school.

Before all that though, today was a pretty packed one starting with Sports Day – the last one in Primary School and the last time he’ll do The Egg & Spoon (amongst all the ‘proper’ races).  Slightly weird watching 11yr olds run with an egg and spoon, and most of the P7 boys decided to see how much cheating they could get away with.  Callum scored highly here as you can see by the position of his egg (about 6 feet high and 6ft infront of him!)

Tonight however was a big night for him, the end of Primary School dance.  So he got himself all kilted up again and off to have a fun night with his pals (and the girls – that’s another story, for another time – he got 4 dances though oooh!!).

As a very very proud dad I just had to take a few snaps so here they are.

I’m immensely proud of my boy, he’s such a kind considerate and thoughtful lad.  With a great outgoing personality and great passion in what he does!  I really enjoy watching him grow into a fine young man, though hopefully not too fast!

I love my family.  I’m so very lucky!

Simon Grosset - When’s he going to get a haircut?
Simon (aka ‘Grumpy Old Person’. Or ‘Old Fogey’)

Brilliant! Thank You!

I reckon it must be karma.

This week has been extremely hard work, long long hours of editing, one great film produced and a few irritating ‘technicals’ (a phrase we once heard pronounced over the tannoy at Heathrow when explaining the delay of our flight to Auckland!).

So, overall a very productive but at times stressful week.

Then karma kicks in to even things out, as the postie arrives with an unexpected parcel…

A simply wonderful card and pressie from one of our January couples – the brilliant Lynn & Gavin.  Thank you guys!

You may have seen the teaser for their film a couple of months back, well their final film has all been delivered and they absolutely LOVED it!.

I’ll share the highlights with you soon….but not just yet;-) It’s something rather different from the norm…but more news on that to come.

Lynn and Gavin were delighted with their film, and their wonderful box of goodies, and heartfelt card have given me a great end to a busy week.

It’s so rewarding to get emails from couples telling me how delighted they are with their wedding films, and it was so special to hear from L&G how much the films means, and how valuable it is to them.

In fact there are two quotes that I’d love to share with you from L&G that really made me sit up and pay attention:

First from an email from Lynn to Gavin as they talked about the film:

“It’s just so amazing, the film, I’m still trying to work out how on earth I can put it into words.

It is history, our history together. What an utterly amazing day it was.  I love the “hello wife bit”; I don’t remember that at all. Funny how it’s all a blur, imagine if you never got to see the film and all those important bits were just gone!”

How amazing, ‘imagine if all those important bits were just gone!” Something I have oft thought about but have never been able to put into words so eloquently.

Secondly from their card to me this morning:

“So many little things are forgotten in the whirlwind of the day, to have them on film is such a gift…You captured the emotion, smiles, tears, jokes and intensity perfectly…we want to tell everyone how brilliant you are.”

I think getting to know Gavin & Lynn, and what’s important to them, helped me to create a film that is perfect for them. One that does show all the little things so quickly forgotten, or indeed lost forever.  We strive to make creative, beautiful, and entertaining wedding films.  But above all that we make wedding films that are totally individual.  The ’stars’ of the film change at every wedding, so we have a different story to tell at every wedding and that’s our sole aim.  To tell a brilliant personal story.

Gavin, Lynn…. thanks for your super kind gift, Callum has already earmarked the Sherbet (and don’t worry Yvonne will get my last Rolo!), but Yvonne, Stuart and I thank you for being an amazing couple it’s been fabulous getting to know you both!

Thanks again to all our couples, we absolutely LOVE telling your stories!

Have a fab weekend everyone. (I’m off to delve into my awesome sweetie box!)

admin - Jelly babies all gone. Yvonne’s on my last Rolo, Callum wolfed the Sherbet, Stu knicked the flake and the gummy bears…. Mmmm what’s next?

Something completely different – not a wedding dress in sight!

I had a whole weekend off this past weekend.  So did I sit back and relax, chill, do some shopping, muck about with Callum, go out for a nice meal with Yvonne?  No.

Well yes, I did actually do all of that but I also got around to editing some footage I took months ago!  Our neighbours son, Alex, is a totally mad downhill mountain bike nut and last Autumn I filmed him and a pal down at Bonaly doing their thing.  The filming was great fun, and with the guys flying past me just inches from my lens, it involved a level of bravery only surpassed by being on the dancefloor filming a dashing white sergeant at a recent Anglo-Irish wedding.

Alex has been hassling me for months now to get the edit completed so I sat aside a couple of hours yesterday and made their film.  Here’s the ‘highlights’ edit.  All filmed handheld, and I kept the edit nice and simple, no big filters etc  - although I might add some later, as 17yr old mountain bike dudes seem to just love those crazy filters  ;)

I have to be honest I’m not 100% sure why I’m posting it here, maybe I need a ‘non-wedding’ blog too?  Anyhow, it’s a nice diversion from the norm and it does feature one of my favourite bands of the moment (30 Seconds to Mars)

So if you’re here to watch one of our fab wedding films, you might just want to skip this one tee hee!

Happy Days.

Coming Soon – Trailer for Dundas Castle Wedding

“…Only Annabel Knows..” ?

Here’s a trailer for Annabel & Monty’s stunning wedding at Dundas Castle earlier this month.

The guys had a blast and the Pavilion at Dundas looked seriously special!  Gemma and her team from Planet Flowers worked their magic once more and it was great to work with Ditte & Chris again from First Light.

Annabel and Monty you were great fun to work with, you just didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day!  Your Mum’s & Dad’s were SO wonderful and kind in their thanks and praise.  Thank you for making it such a pleasure to film your day!  Really excited about the edit !! Oh and your ’special band’ were totally brilliant!

Would love to know what you feel when you watch this… the word I’d use is simply ‘happy’:)

Enjoy!

Oh and yes, only Annabel knows…….  ;)

Jim and Joanne Pre Wedding Teaser

Had a lovely couple of hours yesterday getting to know Jim & Joanne ahead of their wedding at Hopetoun House in September.

We spent a couple of windswept hours over in Aberdour, along with the lovely Niels & Alie from Blue Sky Photography

Jim & Joanne, it was great fun, we do hope you enjoyed it too! I’m sure you’ll both now be a little more relaxed and after the stories you told, I can’t wait to meet Joseph;)

Here’s a very short teaser, just a 50sec clip, but do watch this space in the coming weeks for more….

Cheers

Thank you ash cloud!

Yes I know a lot of people were stuck and severely disrupted all over the world, and I know it’s caused terrible financial issues for a lot of companies the world over…er…but…thanks to the Icelandic volcano with the unpronouncable name, we benefited from a 4 day extension to our Easter holidays in the fabulous Costa Adeje, Tenerife.

It’s always a brill time of year to get away from things, and always a perfect time to completely unwind and get fully recharged ahead of the start of a very busy year.

We had a fab time and Callum especially loved the freedom of spending a lot of time with his new found friends in the hotel (how many new Facebook friends?!)  Plus his busy social schedule meant more time for us to just chill and soak up some of that wonderful sunshine. Win win all round!

So yes, we’re finally back with clear and fully focused heads to implement all the plans we’ve made for a cracking 2010 wedding season.  Exciting times ahead that’s for sure!

Here are a few snaps from the trip including Callum sharing his battle scars after being ‘hacked’ (so he says) by one of the London posse during footy!

Salut!

Achnagairn House Wedding Highlights

Anne & Euan’s Wedding at Achnagairn House in the Highlands was just brilliant. The whole day was just great fun. From Anne and the girls exchanging lovely Tiffany gifts, to Euan making sure the guys would carry out their duties with military precision (in the pub!), it was a blast! Everything went perfectly, even the weather (considering this was the Highlands in January!).

So here is Anne & Euan’s Highlights. I’m sure Anne will want me to point out that she is ‘not a crier’, but I think the emotion of the day just took its hold during those vows… Well done Anne for maintaining your poise.

I’m really looking forward to seeing them again at Susie’s Wedding (Anne’s Bridesmaid) in August! I love that we are referred like this so often (I must be doing something right?) Oh and it was also great to see our previous couples Robbie & Kirsty, Alistair & Jody, plus Ben & Sophie all as guests at Achnagairn. See if you can spot Robbie giving his all to ‘Dignity’ on the dancefloor….

Thanks

Enjoy the film.

Happy Mothers Day (Now with Added Video)

Happy Mothers Day!

Callum wanted to cook Yvonne a nice breakfast in bed, so I took the chance to capture this momentous occasion (our 11yr old ‘cooking’!!) on film!

Here is the result…. quickly edited in the style of Gordon Ramsay’s ‘F Word’. (Oh and I PROMISE it was ‘fudge’.  You’ll see.)

Here’s to mum’s the world over!

Hopetoun House Wedding Trailer – Claire & Euan

Here is the second Trailer of this weeks series, showcasing something new from Design Scotland Video.

I’ll not talk about it just now but do watch this space for some very very cool news soon!

The film trailer is from Claire & Euan’s Wedding last weekend, at the awesome Hopetoun House!  Once again we had the pleasure of working with Niels & Alie from BlueSky Photography (click here to see their photos from this wedding!), and once again we shot far too much footage  ;)      All good though – always better too much than not enough!

The Trailer is edited in a very dramatic style intentionally, but do bear in mind the shots were all taken when working alongside Niels and Alie and we still didn’t need to ‘pose’ Claire & Euan ourselves, so rest assured that we maintained a relaxed approach to the filming.

Claire & Euan, thanks for letting us get involved and we’ll have a cracking film ready for you in a few weeks time.

So, sit back and enjoy the show…..

Steve

PS: don’t forget, we love to hear your thoughts so please do let us know what you think in the comments box below.
PPS:  Niels & Alie, thanks for setting up that awesome petals shot – inspired!   Thanks also to Gemma from Planet Flowers for the BIIIG bucket of petals and the utterly gorgeous displays!!

Wedding Trailer – The Hub – Lynn & Gavin

Lynn & Gavin’s Wedding at The Hub in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile was just fantastic.  They were just so chilled about the day and enjoyed every last minute. Although it was a cold winter’s day, we had blue skies and the day just flew by, it was so much fun!  Photos by the lovely and very talented Niels & Alie at Blue Sky Photography

I grabbed Lynn & Gavin for a quick informal chat in front of camera during the morning preparations, and as those 5min Q&A’s gave me some lovely comments, I thought it best to share a snippet with you here.

Lynn & Gavin, thanks so much for letting us take part in your day, and I look forward to wowing you with the finished Wedding Film in the coming weeks, but for now just enjoy this little teaser to whet your appetite.

Cheers

Valentines Day pt 1

OK I’m a bit of a soppy sod, I’ll admit it!

I do like the opportunity to show Yvonne how much I love her, but this year she has blown me away with the thought that she’s shown and I know it’s a rather public place to say it but heck I really do love her.

From the wonderful Iggys Cupcakes, to the sublime bottle of Raspberry Vodka (very yum by the way!), the lovely cards and exquisitely prepared pancakes for brekky…. it’s truly brilliant to stop and take stock sometimes about how wonderful it is to be in a happy marriage, with the one you love.

Anyway I’ll stop before it gets far too soppy, and just share a couple of pix from today.

Happy Valentines day all!
